Durable, workable flagstone is a popular selection for landscaping projects. It provides an alternative to man-made materials like concrete and it radiates the innate beauty of natural stone. Learn more about this stone and which state variety is right for you.
Two regional favorites are Colorado and New Mexico flagstones. Our local Colorado flagstone is known for its reddish hue but it can also be found in beige or gray tones. The red tint is caused by iron oxide deposits within the stone. Colorado flagstone is moderately easy to cut but it is not as workable as New Mexico flagstone. This stone comes in gentle brown and rust tones.
Both types of flagstone can use polyurethane and sand foundations for support and weed control. Maximum control is accomplished by binding the flagstone with concrete or mortar. Flagstone is a low maintenance stone that is popular in landscaping but it has also made its way into kitchen, fireplace, and bathroom designs.
